Gaeke Construction Awarded Gold Medal for Giddings High School Construction

April 19, 2010, Giddings, TX - Gaeke Construction Company was awarded a Building of America Contractor Gold Medal for their role as Construction Manager at Risk for the Giddings High School construction project. The Building of America Network award winners showcase the most innovative, unique and challenging new projects that are particularly noteworthy and/or give back to the communities they serve.

As CM at Risk, Gaeke Construction became involved in the Giddings High School project in its early phases, long before construction broke ground. During the planning phase, Gaeke provided the design team with accurate preliminary job budget, and proposed project delivery schedules. Many ideas developed through constructability reviews were used by the design team to eliminate problems, simplify the building process, and save project funds.

The result of this team effort was a new 170,000 square foot high school facility, and a conversion of the existing 90,000 square foot high school into a middle school facility, new parking and site infrastructure - all designed to meet the district's current and future needs. The construction package totaled $27 million, which was within the funds allotted by the Board. The project was delivered on schedule and on budget.
