The expansion project at Westlake United Methodist doubled seating capacity and added a new choir loft, altar area, enlarged narthex, restrooms, and a choir practice facility, and replaced air conditioning systems. The new addition matches the existing structure in every detail, making a seamless transition between old and new construction. The sanctuary is constructed on a structural slab with wood framed exterior and interior walls with four-foot by seventy-foot laminated beams spaced on ten-foot centers supported by steel columns. Roof features include asphalt shingles and a hi-load membrane roof system. The exterior finishes consist of rough cedar siding, plaster and stone veneer. The inside wall finishes are painted drywall, acoustical ceiling tiles and exposed structural wood beams.
In addition, we constructed the two-story Education Building, with a system of folding walls for flexibility in room sizes. The project includes new bathroom areas, storage areas and a new kitchen facility. The building is constructed on a structural slab grade with the second floor supported by a structural steel framework. Exterior and interior walls are wood framing and wood trusses and joist in the roof are supported by the structural steel frame. The exterior wall finishes are cedar siding, plaster and stone veneer. The interior walls are painted drywall with red oak trim. The floor finishes are vinyl, quarry and ceramic tile. The ceilings are painted drywall and acoustic ceiling tiles.
The site improvements include new and expanded existing parking areas, site lighting, landscaped courtyard, a detention and filtration pond and site drainage improvements.
