BASTROP PUBLIC LIBRARY
BASTROP, TEXAS
| ARCHITECT | HIDELL AND ASSOCIATES |
| COST | $1,500,000 |
| CONTRACT TYPE | CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AT RISK |
The Bastrop Public Library is the hub of activity for the community. Many people use the facility every day for learning and information gathering to enhance their lives. Because of the importance of the library to the community, the construction program dictated the existing facility to remain functional during the construction phase thus creating a three part construction schedule. First, construct the new 12,825 sq ft new facility for the Library to occupy. Second, renovate the existing facility and third, remove temporary structures and complete shared areas of the building.
The library is of contemporary design, with multi gabled roof structures. The interior is open with large wood trusses that create the roof design. The feature area of the bank is the circular reading room. A large community meeting room, offices and staff work areas complete the interior of the building.
Multi phase project especially when the work is on active public site is difficult. This project is an example Gaeke Constructions ability to coordinate the construction process to meet the Owner needs. Gaeke Construction Company has a 25 plus year working relationship with the City of Bastrop. The Library is just one of several projects completed for the City of Bastrop.
