Gaeke Construction Company Receives Mayoral Proclamation from the City of Houston
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Gaeke Construction Company received the Mayoral Proclamation from the City of Houston at the 2011 Builders Expo recently held at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas.
The proclamation recognizes Gaeke Construction for its influence in the economic development of the Houston region and for promoting growth, education and awareness in the Green Building industry. Other recipients included top architects, engineers and home builders who have also contributed to the generation of billions of dollars worth of construction in the area and provided tens of thousands of jobs each year.

Giddings High School / Middle School Conversion Receives Special Recognition
GIDDINGS, TEXAS -- Gaeke Construction Company recently received a special recognition from the Texas Association of School Administrators and the Texas Association of School Boards for the Giddings High School / Middle School Conversion. It was one of five projects out of nine-nine submitted that were recognized for excellence in school construction. The jury selected the projects based on overall design excellence as well as the following six categories:
• Process of planning
• Educational appropriateness
The Giddings High School / Middle School Conversion project is featured in the January/February 2011 issue of Texas Architect magazine.

Gaeke Construction Receives Contract from the Capital Area
Rural Transportation System
TAYLOR, TEXAS -- We are pleased to announce that Gaeke Construction won the contract from the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) to construct the Taylor Station, an intermodal transit facility in Taylor, Texas completed in the spring of 2011.
The $1.5 million project consists of three buildings on a 1.3 acre developed site. The feature building of the project is a 1,558 square foot main station building where passengers will wait for their buses. Also included is a 2,546 square foot maintenance building and a 6,900 square foot bus storage facility. The site development consists of pedestrian canopies, parking and associated concrete paving and driveways.
Several green building techniques are incorporated into this project including a rainwater collection system to be used for irrigation and water for vehicle maintenance. Solar panels will also be located on the roof of the bus storage facility to provide ancillary power for the facility.

Gaeke Construction Wins Best of 2010 Award from Texas Construction
GIDDINGS, TEXAS -- Texas Construction magazine announced Gaeke Construction as winner of Best K-12 Education construction project in 2010 for Giddings High School. The annual competition recognizes commercial construction and design excellence from across the state including Oklahoma.
An independent jury of industry experts judged more than 180 nominated projects. The jury awarded projects based on entry criteria including overcoming challenges and teamwork; safety; innovation and contribution to the industry/community; construction quality and craftsmanship; and function and aesthetic quality of design.
The award recipients for all categories will be featured in the December issue of Texas Construction. "What an honor to represent the construction industry in this competition," said Robert Gaeke, President of Gaeke Construction.

Gaeke Construction Awarded Gold Medal for Giddings High School Construction
GIDDINGS, TEXAS -- Gaeke Construction Company was awarded a Building of America Contractor Gold Medal for their role as Construction Manager at Risk for the Giddings High School construction project. The Building of America Network award winners showcase the most innovative, unique and challenging new projects that are particularly noteworthy and/or give back to the communities they serve.
As CM at Risk, Gaeke Construction became involved in the Giddings High School project in its early phases, long before construction broke ground. During the planning phase, Gaeke provided the design team with accurate preliminary job budget, and proposed project delivery schedules. Many ideas developed through constructability reviews were used by the design team to eliminate problems, simplify the building process, and save project funds.

Gaeke Construction Named Construction Manager from Brookwood Gift Shop and Café Expansion and Renovation
BROOKSHIRE, TEXAS -- Gaeke Construction Company was recently selected as the Construction Manager for a $2.5 million expansion and renovation of the Brookwood Community café and gift shop. Brookwood is a unique residential and vocational community serving more than 180 adults with functional disabilities in Brookshire, Texas. More than 12,800 square feet will be added to the current building with space for Brookwood's growing retail and restaurant enterprises. The interior of the existing building will also be renovated to meet Brookwood's current needs.

Gonzales I.S.D. Selects Gaeke Construction to Build Athletic Facility
Gaeke Construction Company was awarded the $924,700 contract for remodeling and constructing additions to the Gonzales Independent School District's Apache Field House. The scope of work includes an extensive remodeling of the existing 6,696 square foot facility and a 3,800 square foot new addition. The facility will include a new locker area, weight room, dressing area, training rooms and coaches supporting offices. The exterior will also received a new makeover including a metal roof and exterior wall treatments that will add to the architectural appeal of the building.
Gaeke Construction scored highest on the Gonzales I.S.D. selection criteria ranking which included price, past performance, experience with the district, subcontractors and suppliers and financial stability. Gonzales Deputy Superintendent, Larry Wehde, said he was confident that the company would be able to work with them and get the number of days down to 180 to meet the tight deadline. Robert Gaeke, president of Gaeke Construction commented, "We understand that you want this building in a certain time frame. We'll do whatever we need to do to facilitate that."

Gaeke Construction Wins Bid to Build Bastrop City Hall
Gaeke Construction Company was awarded the $1.529 million contract to construct the Bastrop, Texas City Hall facility. The new 14,904 square foot facility will expand their existing office facilities. Offices for the Mayor, City Manager, Building Inspections and city staff secretaries will all be included in the new structure along with staff support rooms. The building's public area will include meeting rooms, conference rooms and the City Council chambers.

Construction Projects for GISD
Gaeke Construction Company, acting as construction manager for GISD, has completed the three school projects funded by the 2007 GISD bond issue. All three projects were designed by the Architect firm, SHW Group.
